IFS (Internal Family Systems) is an approach to therapy that recognizes the complexity of the human mind and the multiple parts that make up our inner world. We all have various parts of ourselves, each with their own unique thoughts, feelings, behaviors, needs, and roles. These parts can sometimes work in harmony, but at other times, they may feel in conflict with one another, leading to challenges in our lives. In our work together, I will be curious about the different roles that these parts serve for you and how they impact your day-to-day life. By gaining a deeper understanding of your parts and how they interact, we can work towards fostering greater harmony between them. I will support you in developing a compassionate and non-judgmental relationship with all of your parts, even those that may feel uncomfortable or difficult to acknowledge.

EMDR is a body-based way of processing distressing, activating, painful memories, and even current/future distress, so that they're no longer as activating or charged. EMDR also involves a lot of practice with grounding, and gently de-escalating your nervous system, to help you build more of the safety and self-support needed to process distressing or traumatic experiences.

Connection is a basic human need and healthy relationships are necessary for our emotional well-being. We can pay close attention to what arises between us as therapist and client, and what that means or feels like to you. Through this exploration, you can build a deeper understanding of yourself in the context of relationships, facilitating healing and growth.

Gestalt therapy can help you deepen your experience of your thoughts, feelings, body, and behaviors, by using present-centered awareness and creativity to support growth and change. I really like this description.

Sometimes, people under this umbrella can struggle with starting and completing tasks, remembering things, motivation, prioritization, scheduling, feeling overwhelmed by sensory experiences, or feeling like they don’t fit in socially. I will support you in determining your strengths and capacities, developing greater self-compassion, identifying the strategies you already use, and developing new techniques to balance your obligations and your needs.
I use an eclectic approach in therapy and we will figure out what works best for you. Some information about my primary orientations to therapy are in the drop-down menu.
I bring a trauma-informed, healing justice, queer, and liberation oriented lens to the therapy space. My values of consent, autonomy, authenticity, collaboration, creativity, transparency, community, and pleasure guide our work together, and it is my intent to hold an affirming and curious space.
I prioritize working with gender expansive individuals, LGBTQ people, autistic people, people with ADHD, polyamorous people, kinky people, people with current and/or past substance use, disabled people, and those engaged in sex work.
Life and therapy do not take place in a vacuum, and I am committed to recognizing and addressing the ways in which systems of domination shape our lives and experiences as well as how they impact our relationship as therapist and client. We can cultivate space together to expand your healing, thriving, and resistance.
I generally gravitate towards a process-oriented approach: the journey is just as important as your goals! I deeply value both long- and short-term therapy relationships and will gladly tailor my approach to your needs. I love getting creative with clients and incorporating art, games, movement, spending time outside, and interests and hobbies of yours, into sessions.
